New Coping Skills are Definitely in Order

Learning to love and accept myself was really hard this week with all the stress I have been experiencing. Thanks to a beautiful Bipolar angry, teenage drama queen with Borderline Personality Disorder to keep me on my toes.

But I am making it, one minute, one hour, one day at a time.

I love her unconditionally, more than she realizes, more than she probably wants me too. I love my daughter more than anyone else. Yet, she has truly tested me this week. She made me doubt my own worth, my love for myself, and made me doubt my self-acceptance.

But I wake another day to face the challenges thrown at me, one minute, one hour, one day at a time.

I have got to come up with some better, different coping skills. I need to be ready, ready for anything. I have to remain strong. She needs me no matter how hard she tries to push me away.

But I will continue to get back up everytime I fall, one minute, one hour, one day at a time.

My wish for myself and for you this weekend is peace, love, and plenty of awesome coping skills. Maybe some Klonopin and a stiff drink (but not necessary together...Geez I would be knocked out ;p) might be in order this weekend for me while I think up some new ways to cope with my issues, my daughters' issues, and life itself.

The Science of Mental Illness

/

I just got this cool infographic from a new
friend of mine, Aldo Baker
I thought I would help him promote this
infographic that he designed today.
I don't know who is doing a favor for who, but it is
a win-win situation!

It has lots of great information
and statistics (of course).
Some things even I didn't know.
But that isn't saying a lot!!
(Really though, I have never
been a know-it-all).

Anyway!!!

 Enjoy!
(Thanks Aldo for sharing!)

Blog Challenge Day 3

http://delectablydawn.com/blog-a-day-challenge-blog-hop/

Today is the 3rd day of the 30 Day Blog Challenge!

I found this little goodie on the Facebook page Fight Like a Girl Club

I will never give up the fight.
Depression will not defeat me.
I am a survivor.  I will be okay.
I am strong enough to live this life I was given.
You better believe that I will make every
moment count to the very end.

I Support Mental Illness, How About You?

I have a goal to pre-sell 75 Mental Illness Awareness t-shirts on Teespring in 19 days. A large portion of the profit from My Mental Health and Mental Illness Awareness Campaign will go to Mental Health in my city, West Terre Haute, IN especially for medicines that people can't pay for.

Head over here http://www.teespring.com/iamnotashamed and pre-order and check out the t-shirt I designed (logo above), you will not be charged unless I reach my goal. Please support me in my fight to end the stigma of Mental Illness.

Thank you in advance. ♥

Want info about Teespring and/or starting your own campaign? Just go here and see what they are all about.

Did You Know That Men and Boys Suffer From Mental Illness Too!

Men need to know that: it is okay not to be okay. It is acceptable for men to have mental issues and strong, emotional feelings. Men are only human and I feel bad that they think that they are weak. It is okay to cry. It is okay to seek help.
Men deserve a better life too.

Men Please Get Help! You are worth it.

Mental Health Awareness

As May is soon coming to a close, I hope that everyone takes a little understanding, give some support, help stop the stigma, and became more aware of mental health and all the issues mental illness brings with it with you out into the world.  Just because you may not see it, mental illness is real, not something we sufferers make up.  Thanks to all who support me and my blog!  I really appreciate your kindness and continued support.

A to Z Challenge: Truly Understanding

Since I am a day behind due to another crisis in my home, I am combining my posts to make it easier on me and to catch up.

One must be truly understanding of mental illness and how it affects everyone, to be able to deal with 2 people, 2 suicide attempts, in one month.  First, my daughter and now her father.  I am so busy trying to save everyone that I hope that all this that has been happening doesn't come crashing down on me.  Maybe it will all hit me in a month when I think that I am ok, then I might be the one who needs saving.  But I won't think like that.  I am a strong person, strong mother.  I never realized that I could be this strong and be the anchor that keeps everything and everyone safe and still.  Maybe I am all the hope and stength that I need.  Who knew?  Who knew the broken one would be the strongest?

I know that I truly understand mental illness and all that comes with it.  Turning my back on someone that truly needed my help would go against everything I believe in.  I want to stop the stigma.  I want people to be more aware and understanding of the mentally ill.  It is real not something we make up.  We are real people with real lives.  We deserve to live a good life too!
