A to Z Challenge: Yin Yang

What Does the Yin Yang Really Mean?

The Yin Yang, according to Love to Know Feng Shui, the meaning of the symbol date back to ancient China.  It represents the belief that everything in the world consists of two forces that are opposing but complementary.

The outer circle of the yin yang sign represents everything in the world and the world itself. It encompasses the duality of everything that exists.

The Black (Yin) side characteristics are: Feminine, Passive, Intuitive, Delusion, Moon,

Dark, Cold, Submission, Contracting, Downward seeking, Downward movement, Night, Soft, Stillness, Rivers.

The White (Yang) side characteristics are: Male, Active, Logical, Enlightenment, Bright,           Sun, Light, Creation, Dominance, Upward movement, Strong, Hot, Expanding, Hard, Movement,

  Mountains.

The black and white areas together represent the interaction the energy that is found in all things.

The small black and white circles mean that in each of the opposing forces there is a small part of the other. Each exists in the other and each needs the other to exist. In all yin there is yang and in all yang there is yin. This holds true for everything in the world. In good there is evil. Nothing in life is black or white.

The soft "S" shape shows that each sustains the other in their never-ending cycle.

Now you know, in case you were curious. I know I was. I knew that the yin yang symbol had to do with balance, like all forces were working together. I always thought it was cool looking, kind of goes along with the peace symbol.  I love peace signs.  I always have.
